What is Cyber Essentials?
Cyber Essentials is a government-backed, industry-supported certification introduced back in 2014, this scheme provides an accessible cyber security certification which helps protect businesses of all sizes from up to 80% of the most common cyber threats.
This certification also highlights and demonstrates a commitment to your organisations cybersecurity.

What’s the difference between Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus?
As Cyber Essentials can be completed as a self assessment, it can result in information being given to the assessor which is incorrect, due to this, Cyber Essentials Plus gives you deeper peace of mind, as it includes an independent technical assessment of your systems. This is ideal for organisations handling sensitive data or operating in regulated sectors.
Cyber Essentials Certification
At RJ Cortel, we are a registered Cyber Essentials Certification Body, this means we can process your application for the certification.
Cyber Essentials is a self assessment, which you can purchase from us below. You will then be provided with access to our Cyber Essentials portal, allowing you to view and upload your answers to the technical questions.
We also provide ongoing consultation services to help you understand the questions, and how to implement the controls if required.
Once you have your Cyber Essentials Certification, you can move onto Cyber Essentials Plus.
Cyber Essentials Plus is a technical review and audit of the controls you have in place, this provides you with assurance, from a certified certification body that what you have stated within your Cyber Essentials certification, is accurate and in place as it has been verified by a third party.
We also have services available to provide you with ongoing scanning, to help you speed up your re-certification the next year and also keep your devices and services secure and complaint.
